Pt. Arvind Kumar
Into whose veins flow music, into every chord of whose being breathes music, into whose life music is akin to worship, such a person is Pt. Arvind Kumar.
He has dedicated his entire life to the disciplined practice of music. He is the the Director of Swar Sadhna Kendra and Managing trustee of Swar Sadhna Sansthan. Also a Guest lecture at Netaji Subhash University of Technology ,(NSUT), Dwarka, New Delhi.
Pt. Arvind Kumar is the founder and the Guru of this Kendra, he is a disciple of Pt. Laxman Krishanrao Pandit ji of Gwalior Gharana and an Akashwani certified artist.
Musical Lineage
Pt. Arvind Kumar Grandfather, Late Jageshwar Rai was well versed in the art of oratorio and Holi songs. He also excelled at the musical instrument, Mridanga. Pt Kumar’s father Shri Kuldeep Rai was an exceptional singer of religious songs and the greater part of his life was spent in the devotion of Lord Krishna in the holy envious of Vrindavan.Pt. Kumar inherited his musical genes from his father and got the inspiration to sing at an early age.
Musical Education
During his college days, Sri Kumar become acquainted with a professor of music, Pt. Sunirmal Bhattacharya of Kolkata’s Shantiniketan. Kumar attached His formal education in music from Pt. Bhattacharya. After this, Kumar gained an education in classical music from Prestigious and prominent Singer Pt. Lakshaman Krishanrao Pandit belonging to the Gwalior Ghanrana.Pt. Rao becomes both his ideal and guru.
Honorary Title of Pandit
Pt. Kumar has a heightened interest in several genres of music such as ‘Khayal’, ‘Thumri’, ‘Sufi’, ‘Ghazal’ and Qawwali’. On several occasions, he has also composed songs of exalted merit. Educated in the musical tradition of the Gwalior Gharana, Shri Arvind Kumar has conferred the honorary title of ‘Pandit’ by the President of Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Jagadguru Brahma Rishi Jeeteshwaranand Ji Maharaj.
Bringing Music to Tihar Jail
Pt. Arvind Kumar believes that music has a significant role to play in moulding the character of citizens and making them responsible. He has been associated with the cause of imparting education in music to the inmates of Tihar jail.
Programs on Television,Radio & Other Platforms
Apart from presenting recitals on several private television channels, Pt Kumar has had the distinction of performing on Doordarshan’s popular program.” Subah Savere”.
He is a certified artist of Akashwani Delhi. He also had the Honour of singing under the guiding light of renowned music composer Rabindra Jain at India International Centre, Delhi, and several Other places.
